Week 8 - Day 50

Dear Texas state officials -
Who taught you  how to analyze data?  THIS IS NOT a 14 day downward trend.  We have NO downward trend at all.

Sincerely --
A Concerned Citizen

We opened up Texas on Friday.  We opened in a way that can be monitored to any significant degree.  We count on the fact that people/businesses will self-monitor and do the right thing.  We cannot count on that.  I am not sure what this means for us.  Dallas in Particular is setting daily records as we climb. New case by day tend to be in an upward trend for the entire state.

The United States as a whole continues to upward trend.  There may be some regions doing better than others (generally high IQ's there?), but we are still in pretty bad shape as a Nation and this is not looking to get better.  It has been documented that some states are telling lies and hiding their deaths now so that they can keep pushing to open up.  Sad.  We already are not testing to the same degree as other countries who are successfully opening back up.

It is like trying to move forward in oppressive darkness when you are hiking and you really cannot tell the best way to turn. Everyone knows in these circumstances, it is best to hunker down and wait.  You are much more likely to still be alive with all limbs intact when dawn breaks.

How do we get the economy back in motion, and yet protect those that we love?  People in occupations that require direct contact are hesitant to even want to go back to work.  But how do they survive if the governors have opened up the business to be able to work?  Unemployment is not an option.

Some perhaps can change jobs.  Some can deplete savings to take a longer break and try and wait it out.  But if neither of these are options what do we do?

Now more than ever, we need to check in with our friends and family who are not working.  We need to make sure they are ok.  We need to make sure that despair is not overwhelming them.  We need to try and prevent suicide numbers due to covid from rising.  THIS death count from Covid has already started and likely is not being well-tracked.  We each need to work hard at taking care of our own.  This is how we survive and eventually thrive again.
